A sprain is an injury to a ligament. A wrist sprain is a common injury. There are many ligaments in the wrist that can be stretched or torn, resulting in a sprain. This occurs when the wrist is bent forcefully, such as in a fall onto an outstretched hand.
Signs & Symptoms
Pain
Swelling
Tenderness and warmth around the injury
Feeling a popping or tearing in the wrist
Bruising
Divided into three degrees :
First-degree : Pain with minor damage to the ligament
Second-degree : Pain, more severe ligament damage, a feeling of looseness to the joint, and some loss of function.
Third-degree : Pain, a completely torn ligament, severe looseness of the joint, and loss of function.
